Ako 28 ro\u010dn\u00fd prich\u00e1dza do Alexandrie pri Egypte, ktor\u00e1 v&nbsp;t\u00fdch \u010dasoch bola jedn\u00fdm z&nbsp;hlavn\u00fdch miest vzdelanosti. Tam nav\u0161tevuje v\u00fdklady Amm\u00f3nia Sakku, ktor\u00fd ho v\u00fdrazne ovplyvnil. O&nbsp;Amm\u00f3niovi sa traduje, \u017ee vraj pri\u0161iel z&nbsp;Indie, predn\u00e1\u0161al v\u0161ak po gr\u00e9cky a&nbsp;mal plat\u00f3nske vzdelanie. O&nbsp;jeho filozofii vieme ve\u013emi m\u00e1lo a&nbsp;pravdepodobne \u2013 podobne ako S\u00f3krat\u00e9s \u2013 ni\u010d nenap\u00edsal. Kv\u00f4li z\u00e1ujmu o&nbsp;perzsk\u00fa a&nbsp;indick\u00fa filozofiu sa v&nbsp;roku 243 prid\u00e1va k&nbsp;vojenskej v\u00fdprave cis\u00e1ra Gordiana III. do Perzie. Po\u010das v\u00fdpravy je Gordianus zabit\u00fd pri vzbure vojakov a&nbsp;Pl\u00f3tinos sa postupne dost\u00e1va do R\u00edma. Tam ost\u00e1va od roku 263 a\u017e do prepuknutia v\u00e1\u017enej choroby. N\u00e1sledne odch\u00e1dza na statok svojich priate\u013eov do Kamp\u00e1nie, kde v&nbsp;priebehu roku 270 alebo 271 umiera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; V&nbsp;R\u00edme Pl\u00f3tinos zaklad\u00e1 svoju \u0161kolu, predn\u00e1\u0161a a&nbsp;postupne za\u010d\u00edna p\u00edsa\u0165. Jeho posluch\u00e1\u010dmi s\u00fa kres\u0165ansky aj \u017eidovsky orientovan\u00ed myslitelia, ale aj \u010dlenovia r\u00edmskej aristokracie a&nbsp;sen\u00e1tu (takmer sa mu podar\u00ed presved\u010di\u0165 cis\u00e1ra Galliena, aby zalo\u017eil pod\u013ea Plat\u00f3nov\u00fdch z\u00e1konov filozofick\u00e9 mesto Plat\u00f3nopolis). Porfyrios vo svojom \u017eivotopise predstavuje Pl\u00f3tina ako \u010dloveka, ktor\u00fd dok\u00e1\u017ee spoji\u0165 svoju hlbok\u00fa kontempl\u00e1ciu s&nbsp;\u010disto praktick\u00fdm \u017eivotom. Jednak je to mu\u017e \u0161t\u00fadia a&nbsp;rozj\u00edmania (pod\u013ea Porfyria sa mu podarilo v&nbsp;kontempl\u00e1cii minim\u00e1lne \u0161tyrikr\u00e1t zjednoti\u0165 s&nbsp;najvy\u0161\u0161\u00edm princ\u00edpom \u2013 s&nbsp;Jednom), jednak ve\u013emi praktick\u00fd \u010dlovek, ktor\u00fd sa venuje svojim \u017eiakom (Porfyrios mu \u010fakuje, \u017ee ho odhovoril od samovra\u017edy) a&nbsp;m\u00e1 ve\u013ek\u00fa d\u00f4veru Rimanov \u2013 p\u00f4sob\u00ed ako rozhodca sporov, \u010di vedie v\u00fdchovu a&nbsp;spr\u00e1vu majetku osirel\u00fdch det\u00ed, ktor\u00e9 dost\u00e1va do opatery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Zhruba tridsa\u0165 rokov po Pl\u00f3tinovej smrti Porfyrios vyd\u00e1va jeho dielo doplnen\u00e9 o&nbsp;jeho \u017eivotopis. Spisy z&nbsp;pozostalosti tematicky rozde\u013euje do \u0161iestich skup\u00edn po deviatich a&nbsp;nazve ich <em>Enneady<\/em> (po gr\u00e9cky doslova \u201edeviatky\u201c). S\u00e1m seba Pl\u00f3tinos pova\u017euje len za vyklada\u010da Plat\u00f3na. Z&nbsp;<em>Enne\u00e1d<\/em> je v\u0161ak zrejm\u00e9, \u017ee bol ve\u013emi dobre obozn\u00e1men\u00fd aj s&nbsp;Aristotelom a&nbsp;so spismi jeho koment\u00e1torov, ako aj \u010fal\u0161\u00edmi dobov\u00fdmi filozofmi. Pl\u00f3tinos do svojich v\u00fdkladov prij\u00edma mnoh\u00e9 Aristotelove argumenty a&nbsp;delenia, ktor\u00e9 pova\u017euje za kompatibiln\u00e9 s&nbsp;platonizmom. Vytv\u00e1ra tak samostatn\u00fd sp\u00f4sob myslenia \u2013 origin\u00e1lny filozofick\u00fd syst\u00e9m. Ten \u010falej rozvin\u00fa u\u017e spomenut\u00fd Porfyrios, nesk\u00f4r Iamblichos (tzv. s\u00fdrska \u0161kola) a&nbsp;napokon v&nbsp;5. storo\u010d\u00ed Proklos (tzv. at\u00e9nska \u0161kola). Pr\u00e1ce t\u00fdchto novoplatonikov, a&nbsp;predov\u0161etk\u00fdm samotn\u00e9ho Pl\u00f3tina, silne ovplyvnia filozoficko-teologick\u00fa trad\u00edciu kres\u0165anstva, islamu a&nbsp;judaizmu, hlavne v&nbsp;ich po\u010diato\u010dn\u00fdch f\u00e1zach, kedy h\u013eadaj\u00fa filozofick\u00e9 v\u00fdrazy a&nbsp;argumenty, ktor\u00e9 by pomohli artikulova\u0165 ich n\u00e1bo\u017eensk\u00e9 v\u00edzie. Pl\u00f3tinovo dielo v\u0161ak hlboko ovplyvn\u00ed aj renesan\u010dn\u00fdch a&nbsp;novovek\u00fdch autorov, spome\u0148me len men\u00e1 ako Erasmus Rotterdamsk\u00fd, Thomas More, G. W. F. Hegel, \u010di C. S.
