PROBLEMATIZOVANIE EDUKAČNEJ REALITY.
PRAKTICKÁ METODOLÓGIA
Summary
This book is both a monograph and a textbook. It describes and clarifies issues connected with the research process in the social sciences regarding the study of educational practices. The author highlights two views on educational reality: objective and subjective, derived directly from epistemology. The research process is analyzed in the context of defining and problematizing educational reality as well as its operationalization in the form of research tools. This is a highly contextualized approach, focused on analyzing the processes of searching for and naming scientific problems. The central idea of this study is precisely problematization, which gives all of the analyses conducted here a perspective.
The book consists of four chapters. Chapter one presents the activity of the researcher acting on the borderline between practical and theoretical reality. Mentioned here are the ways of defining the phenomena under investigation, and of replacing facts with theoretical constructs, which in turn are referenced back to educational reality and its types. In chapter two, the reader will find issues regarding problematization, and therefore conducting critical analyses based on the space which is provided by previously created definitions. Chapter three, the most complicated and complex in the book, concerns operationalization, i.e., how to translate theoretical language into a language of human experience, which is an operation preparing the researcher for data collection. These analyses show how one can register unobservable phenomena. The search for these possibilities leads directly to a formulation of the research questions or hypotheses that guide the entire study. At this point in the analysis, the issue of problematization, the final stage of which is precisely the construction of research questions or hypotheses, returns. Chapter four introduces data collection methods. This, however, is not an exhaustive analysis, but one focused more on connecting data with problematization and operationalization.
